Cobb County School Resources for Marietta, Kennesaw, Smyrna and Acworth Schools


  • Newsweek Includes 12 Cobb High Schools Among Top 1,600 in USA
    Newsweek magazine included 12 high schools from the Cobb County School District in its list of America€™s Top Public High Schools. Only 1,600 schools made the list, based on a €˜Challenge Index€™ devised by Newsweek that gauges participation rates for Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Cambridge tests. For the second consecutive year, Walton High School (ranked 79th) was the only school in Georgia to crack the top 100.  The other Cobb high schools listed, with ranking indicated in parentheses are: Campbell (568 [includes IB program]), Lassiter (467), Wheeler (347), Harrison (1300), Pope (776), Sprayberry (1161), Kell (661), Hillgrove (1225), Kennesaw Mountain (1238), North Cobb (1438) and Osborne (391).
  • Cobb Named Among 2010 ‘Best Communities for Music Education in America’
    According to a nationwide survey by the NAMM Foundation and the American Music Conference, the Cobb County School District is among the 174 €˜Best Communities for Music Education America!€™
  • Several Cobb schools were cited in Atlanta magazine€™s feature regarding the metro area€™s best schools! The main listings for each metro county were based on highest overall scores on standardized tests and includes Mount Bethel Elementary, Dickerson Middle and Walton High. Atlanta also highlighted unique school programs in its sidebars, including Pebblebrook High€™s performing arts magnet program, Lassiter High€™s award-winning band program, Kennesaw Mountain High€™s required community service for clubs and organizations and Russell Elementary€™s space program.
